Research Experience

Carnegie Mellon University, Robotics Institute — Pittsburgh, USA   (Sep 2024 – Present)
Graduate Research Assistant, Kantor Lab
SLAM and 3D reconstruction for forest environments. Built MapForest — a modular field robotics system for LiDAR-inertial mapping and invasive species localization (arXiv). Ongoing thesis: merging under-canopy and above-canopy maps by maximizing mutual information in a shared latent space of tree-likelihood fields. Advisor: Prof. Abhisesh Silwal.
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi — New Delhi, India   (July 2022 – July 2024)
Project Scientist
Leveraging LLMs and VLMs for embodied AI — open-world perception, task planning, and world modeling for field and assistive robots. Developed the autonomy stack for an indigenous mobile manipulator; worked with seven undergraduate students and one doctoral student on language and skill modules. Advisors: Prof. Rohan Paul & Prof. P.V.M Rao.
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) — Thiruvananthapuram, India   (Apr 2021 – Sep 2021)
Project Intern
Modelling, control, and simulation of quadruped robots — CLIK algorithm, Composite Rigid Body and Recursive Newton-Euler dynamics, joint-space and task-space inverse dynamics control. Advisor: Prof. Sam K. Zachariah.
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) — Thiruvananthapuram, India   (May 2019 – July 2019)
